EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

2002 - present: Self Employment
I have been working with several organizations on a regular basis doing graphic design, photo retouching and illustration for print and the Internet.

1991 - 2002: NorthStar Print Group - a subsidiary of Journal Communications Inc.
Throughout my many years of employment with this company I performed a number of different functions. During those years, the graphics business changed enormously with the advent of computers and other technological advances. NorthStar's equipment was state-of-the-art, and I have worked with all the standard Macintosh software. As part of the Graphic Services Department, aside from preparing client material to print with whatever specifications were necessary for the 3 processes (offset, gravure and flexography) with which NorthStar worked, I designed labels, POP displays , boxes and box wraps, and billboards. I also worked very closely with Marketing Department on brochures, folders, sell sheets, newsletters, and trade magazine ads. My responsibilities included overseeing photo shoots and printing of projects both inside and outside of the company along with retouching photos and creating illustration when needed. I designed, created and maintained the informational company web site - www.nspg.com - until the sale of the company in February 2005 at which time it ceased to exist.

Working for a company involved with so many printing processes and products provided me with a truly invaluable education on the many practical aspects of the graphics business. Other facets of the job included providing customer service for clients both outside as well as inside of the company, and an ability to work either as part of a team or alone according to the dictates of each job.
